Dear all,
it is with deep regret that we must accept the inevitability of postponing the EC 2020. The position of the organizers is very clear and carried by logical motives and rational reasoning. What adds to this: we received messages from a growing number of countries that they can and will not participate, due to national measures against spreading of the virus.
As EKO, we must now accept this decision and support the organizers in every way possible. This means,in this case specifically: while they, as soon as this is opportune, are actively searching for a new date, member countries have to prepare for trying to contribute to the ‘new’ EC whenever this is possible.
in the meantime, EKO board wants to thank the organizers for all efforts that they have put in the preparation for this championship. We are convinced that these will not be in vain.
As for all our member countries, in difficult times like these, we can show the world how good it is to be a member of the (shin)kyokushin family. Exactly by supporting each other the way we do now.
We wish you all a continuing good health, please take care of yourself, your families, friends and students.
Osu!

Dear EKO Board members, Country Representatives, Presidents of National Federations, Club Leaders, Dear Colleagues,
The World Health Organization has announced that coronavirus is a pandemic due to growing statistics around the world that change day by day and every hour.
Control measures have been tightened at border checkpoints and airports. Passengers undergo thorough medical examinations and must provide relevant information on coronavirus analysis. Passengers can leave quarantine zones and specialized medical facilities if they leave their country, enter or return to another country.
Almost all International Sports Organizations have canceled or temporarily postponed planned international sports events.
We must take maximum responsibility. The main goal for us is the safety and health of our members and, above all, athletes.
Based on the recommendations of the World Health Organization, the decisions of International Sports Organizations, the recommendations of Governments, relevant ministries, medical and sports medicine organizations, we must decide to postpone the European Karate Championship.
Our organization, as the host of the European Championships, has devoted a lot of work, resources and finances to ensure this event at a high level. We are ready to hold this event at any time during the year after the stabilization of the situation.
We think that this is not the right time for questioning and reflection. We must really perceive the situation in Europe, act adequately and instantly. Our proposal is that, given the current situation in Europe, EKO will officially announce its decision to postpone the European Championship, scheduled for April 4-5 in Tbilisi. Given the current situation, it will be necessary to agree on a new date.
I wish you peace, health and the best of luck.
Regards, on behalf
Organizing Committee
