The leadership of the russian union of martial arts (RUMA) formed a volunteer detachment to participate in the war against Ukraine. According to the information of the organizers of the detachment, it included 100 famous athletes and instructors, including representatives of Kyokushin karate.
The RUMA includes 71 sports federations, which represent various styles and directions of martial arts. In their social networks, they actively urge to join the detachment and go to Ukraine.
Among those who decided to go to Ukraine and kill well-known representatives of Kyokushin karate: Sergei Uvitsky (European champion, silver medalist of the Japanese Championship and the absolute European Championship), Sergei Plekhanov (two-time Oyama Cup champion in Japan, Japanese K1 champion), Viktor Gorn (World Cup champion, European champion), Vsevolod Mokhirev (trainer and head of one of the city’s Kyokushinkai organizations). Ramil Gabbasov (executive director of the RUMA and director of the all-style karate federation) became the commander of the detachment, who actively visits the occupied territories and meets with their leaders.
According to Sergei Uvitsky, about 100 people are currently undergoing training at the base. All volunteers and of their own free will decided to take part in the war, or as they call it, their own. Everyone was looking for an opportunity to go to Ukraine, but as soon as the opportunity arose to do it under the auspices of the RUMA, everyone quickly made this decision. January 5, 2023 is planned to complete the training and after that, according to them, they will go to the combat zone to fight fascism, as their grandfathers did in the forties.
Trying to reach out and say something to these people in the 11th month of the war makes no sense and desire. People are completely cut off from reality and do not understand what is really happening and what awaits them in Ukraine. But many surprises and gifts await them in Ukraine. It’s one thing to calmly run around the training base, knowing that nothing threatens you, it’s another thing when they get under the first shelling or the drone operator from above brings them a surprise.
Now there are many Ukrainian athletes and many representatives of Kyokushin karate in various branches of the military at the forefront. Perhaps, having learned this information, they will want to meet them on one of the battlefields.
